Understanding the TABLE: why Jesus builds churches around tables:

TABLE stands for:
  • Transform the space
  • Attend to people
  • Break bread and embody good news
  • Listen together to Jesus and the word
  • Equip each other for the week ahead
  • Thank people for coming.

  • Follow up with one or two people you connected with.

  • Let us know how it went so we can share stories and learn together.

  • Most importantly, hosting an open Table is not about the event. It's about the community that you create. Stay connected with one another and encourage the household until you come back togethe

Safety & Inclusion

  • Always have two adults present if children are there.

  • Make sure food is labelled for dietary needs.

  • Choose accessible spaces (wheelchairs, prams).

  • Keep events alcohol-free for safety and inclusion.

  • Respect different beliefs and keep conversation kind.

Multiplying the Movement

  • If your gathering grows beyond 12–15 people, encourage someone else to host another table.

  • Share your experience at church to inspire new hosts.

  • Remember: success is not in numbers but in creating spaces of belonging and discipleship.
